The Caledonian Society Bonn

The Caledonian Society Bonn was founded around 1946 by the British armed forces and later run by employees of the British Embassy.  Today the Caledonian Society Bonn is under the patronage of H.M Consul-General Maxwell Scott, Düsseldorf.

The society promotes Scottish traditions and international relations and is open to everyone sharing these interests.  We hold several social events per year and organise weekly Scottish country dancing practices from September to June in Bonn .

 

The highlight of our social events is our annual St. Andrew’s Night Children’s Charity Ball.  This year it took place on November 28th 2009 at the MARITIM Hotel Bonn.

Our main sponsors in 2009  are Beam Global with The Famous Grouse Whisky, Ford of Europe, Volvo Autobank Köln, Macsween of Edinburgh, Walkers Shortbread, P& O North Sea Ferries along with many other  British and German companies. The proceeds of this ball are donated to children’s charities in Scotland and Germany. Since 1997, we have donated € 89,500 to children’s charities.

In spring 2009, we donated € 3,000 from the proceeds made in 2008.  This donation went to the Aberlour Child Care Trust, Stirling, Scotland and Bunter Kreis Bonn-Ahr-RheinSieg. E.V., Germany, where our proceeds of 2009 will also be donated to.

Textfeld: The Caledonian Society Bonn existiert seit ca. 1946 und wurde von den britischen Streitkräften gegründet und dann später durch Mitarbeiter der britischen Botschaft weitergeführt. Heute steht die Caledonian Society Bonn unter der Schirmherrschaft von Maxwell Scott, H.M. Consul-General , Düsseldorf. Wir fördern schottische Traditionen und internationale Beziehungen. Jeder der diese Interessen teilt kann Mitglied der Caledonian Society werden. Wir haben mehrere Veranstaltungen im Jahr und führen auch wöchentlich von September bis Juni in Bonn einen schottischen Tanzkurs durch. Seit mehreren Jahren veranstalten wir den “St. Andrew’s Night Children’s Charity Ball” als Wohltätigkeitsball für Kinder mit vielen Sponsoren aus Schottland und Deutschland. Der St. Andrew’s Night Charity Ball 2009 fand am 28. November 2009 in dem Maritim Hotel, Bonn statt. Unsere Hauptsponsoren in 2009 sind Beam Global with The Famous Grouse Whisky, Ford of Europe, Volvo Autobank Köln, Macseen of Edinburgh, Insel Hotel Bad Godesberg, Walkers of Aberlour, P&O North Sea Ferries zusammen mit vielen britischen und deutschen Unternehmen. Der Erlös dieses Balls geht an Organisationen, die sich für benachteiligte oder notleidende Kinder in Schottland und Deutschland einsetzen. Seit 1997 haben wir insgesamt €89.500 an Kinderhilfsorganisationen gespendet. Im Frühjahr 2009 ging unsere Spende aus dem Jahr 2008 in Höhe von €3000 an Aberlour Child Care Trust, Stirling, Schottland und Bunter Kreis Bonn-Ahr-Rhein-Sieg e.V., Germany; diese Organisationen werden wir auch 2009 unterstützen.
