The Caledonian Society Bonn |

The Caledonian Society Bonn was founded around 1946 by the British armed forces and later run by employees of the British Embassy. Today the Caledonian Society Bonn is under the patronage of H.M Consul-General Malcolm Scott, Düsseldorf. The society promotes Scottish traditions and international relations and is open to everyone sharing these interests. We hold several social events per year and organise weekly Scottish country dancing practices from September to June in Bonn . The highlight of our social events is our annual St. Andrew’s Night Children’s Charity Ball. This year it will take place on November 26th 2011 at the Maritim Hotel Bonn-Bad Godesberg. Our main sponsors in 2010 were Beam Global with the Famous Grouse Whisky, Ford of Europe, Bitburger Braugruppe GmbH, Volvo Autobank Köln, Macsween of Edinbugh, Walkers Shortbread, P&O North Sea Ferries along with many other British and German companies. In 2011 we gratefully received sponsorship for the Ball from Ford of Europe, Pernod-Ricard, TÜV Rheinland, Bitburg Brewery, Macsween of Edinburgh, Walkers of Aberlour,Volvo Autobank, IBIS and BIS. The proceeds of this year’s ball will be donated to children’s charities in Scotland and Germany. Since 1997, we have donated € 95,500 to children’s . In 2011, from the 2010 proceeds, we donated to Children First, Edinburgh and Verein für Gefährdetenhilfe (Society for Parents and Young Persons at Risk). .
In Autumn 2010, we donated € 4,000 from the proceeds made in 2009 to children’s charities in Scotland and Germany: Children First, Scotland, Fundraising Society for Tumours & Leukaemia, Germany and the “Verein für Gefaehrdetenhilfe”, Germany (Society for Parents and Young Persons at Risk), |
